**Job Summary**

Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. Under general direction, develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. May provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity. May be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output.

**Key Responsibilities**

Engineering Standards:

+ Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies

+ Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards

+ Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines

Quality/Continuous Improvement:

Engineering Production:

**Minimum Qualifications**

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geologist/Hydrogeologist for our Phoenix, AZ and/or Tucson, AZ office(s). Be involved in projects with our US Mine Water & Environment Group and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, geotechnical, and hydrogeological projects.

Your Impact

+ Working within our Mine Water Team on hydrogeology projects within the mining industry and beyond

+ Field data collection planning and implementation in support of hydrogeologic interpretation including geologic logging of boreholes, geotechnical investigations, monitoring well installation, oversight of hydraulic tests, and groundwater and surface water sampling and flow measurements with an emphasis on preparation, installation, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of field instrumentation for groundwater and surface water monitoring.

+ Utilize the latest technologies and techniques to interpret hydrogeologic and hydrologic data using data manipulation tools while maintaining quality control standards and procedures.

+ Supervision of drilling and construction/remediation contractors, collection of soil, rock, and groundwater samples, and other tasks in support of a wide variety of projects and environmental investigations.

+ Contribute to large, cross functional and multidisciplinary projects with on-call components while working with engineers, GIS specialists, and other environmental experts.

+ Communicate and document site conditions, observations, and activities.

+ Understand the regulatory environment to successfully complete project work.

Who You Are

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or closely related discipline.

+ 0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.

+ Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.

+ Strong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analyses.

+ MSHA 24-hour Metal and Non-Metal Surface Mining certification.

+ OSHA 40-hour certification 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

+ Familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e., AQTESOLV, Surfer, LogPlot, GIS, and AutoCAD).

At Stantec, we understand the importance of integrated, multi-disciplinary approaches., SAs a Principal Civil Engineer you will be leading and growing the technical water resources practice within the Mining, Minerals and Metals business line. This is a technical leadership position that focuses on constantly engaging and improving the quality and technical excellence of the team.

The successful candidate will work directly with the existing team on a multitude of mining/industrial projects worldwide. The candidate will focus on mentoring and supporting the technical development of the group and serve as a senior advisor and reviewer to projects and clients globally. In this capacity, the candidate will have a strong direction to manage and support project success both externally to our clients and internally with our staff.

**Your Key Responsibilities**

+ Lead and/or advise on technical aspects of mining and mining infrastructure projects, business development, and proposal activities (contribution of high-quality technical content expected during all stages).

+ Contribute to the development and execution of the water resources team’s technical practice and actively contribute to the maintenance of Stantec’s quality standards in a process of continuous improvement.

+ Provide technical expertise and lead technical delivery on a variety of projects ensuring successful outcomes for our clients and beneficiaries.

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**

+ Experience and capability in the following areas are strongly desired:
+ Mine water management, mine closure, and feasibility studies for the mining industry
+ State and Federal regulations pertaining to water management.
+ Planning, designing, and managing the design and construction of surface water and groundwater infrastructure including proven experience integrating civil and geotechnical engineering concepts.
+ Project management includes developing detailed budgets, determining project scope, establishing schedules, processing appropriate paperwork, and interacting with clients.
+ Marketing and preparing proposals and assisting in preparing and providing presentations.
+ Understanding the CERCLA and RCRA process and for environmental related projects.

+ Ability to successfully guide and oversee the technical aspects of multiple projects in parallel.

+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to clearly convey and distill complex technical information to a variety of audiences

+ Possession of the following personal leadership qualities: integrity, creativity, patience, tenacity, commitment

**Salary Range(s):**

* $108,000 - $162,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
