Do you believe in promoting social, economic and political justice? Are you looking for the tools to create meaningful change in the world? In this program, you'll have the opportunity to conduct quantitative and analytical research that will lead to better understanding of the complexities of social justice.
The BS program in justice studies is an innovative social science and liberal arts program that examines current and historical social justice issues. Students explore social justice in the context of inequality, race, gender, citizenship, indigeneity or other major contemporary issues.
This program provides a broad approach to understanding justice within the legal system and in wider social contexts. To provide students with the analytical skills required of today's workforce, the Bachelor of Science degree program offers a social science focus and requires students to enroll in a quantitative data analysis course.
In this program, students use multiple research methodologies to understand social justice issues in diverse settings, working with a variety of people and cultures. The skills gained allow students to create real-world change.

Program learning outcomes identify what a student will learn or be able to do upon completion of their program. This program has the following program outcomes:
- Analyze a current justice issue.
- Explore and analyze key concepts and methodologies in the field.
- Apply principles in justice studies to research activities or community engagement.
Human rights, violence, resource conflict and immigration are some of the issues that every country currently faces in some form or another. One of the best ways students can investigate potential solutions is by observing patterns from one culture to another through study abroad. Students who study issues of justice in another culture can bring a new lens to their own experience and become positive changemakers in the world.
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences recommends specific study abroad programs for students majoring in justice studies.
Students emerge from this program with knowledge and skills that will allow them to identify and address social justice concerns as they manifest in their professional lives. Program graduates work in a variety of fields, including:

- human welfare and social work

- nongovernmental organizations
- politics
- public service fields
- social advocacy
Many graduates go on to law school, graduate school or other professional degree programs.

3 year programs
These programs allow students to fast-track their studies after admission and earn a bachelor's degree in three years or fewer while participating in the same high-quality educational experience of a 4-year option. Students should talk to their academic advisor to get started.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Acceptance to the graduate program requires a separate application.
