    **Overview and Essential Functions**

    A successful Underground Equipment Operator shall access specific areas to install, maintain, and/or repair a customer's telecommunications equipment. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction; familiarity with excavation equipment, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each; ability to use digger derrick and trenching equipment; ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.

    **In order to perform this job, you must demonstrate, either by training or experience:**

    + the ability to work safely, with or without supervision;

    + the ability to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods;

    + the ability to work comfortably in cramped and/or enclosed spaces for extended periods;

    + excellent manual dexterity;

    + the ability to organize work load to determine priority of duties;

    + the ability to read system maps and schematics;

    + the ability to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing;

    + the ability to understand and operate equipment, including, but not limited to an digger derrick, trencher, and hand tools;

    **Responsibilities:**

    + Completion of low level and high level labor intensive tasks as well as operation of assigned construction equipment.

    + Completion of daily production reports to document work performed.

    + Use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of an assigned project.

    + Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

    **Qualifications**

    + 2 years of related work experience.

    + Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment. (Wrenches, Drills, Ladders, Lanyards, Fork Lifts, Saws, etc.)

    + Proficient in the use of telecom construction equipment. (Aerial Lifts, Dozers, Lashers, Meters, Plows, etc.)

    + Authorized to work in the United States.

    + Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, background, and motor vehicle record check.

    **Workplace Environment and Physical Demands:**

    To be considered for this position, a candidate must possess the ability to kneel/crawl and work comfortably in cramped and/or enclosed spaces for extended periods, while using repetitive and/or fine hand movements. Work is performed both inside and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation, and in rugged terrain such as back easements, rural locations and at active construction sites. Periodic lifting and manipulating plant and equipment up to 75 pounds is required. Noise level can range from moderate to loud and from intermediate to constant. There may also be extensive driving and/or long periods away from the home location.

    **What You Will Do**

    + Safely perform duties related to the production of copper and/or molybdenum concentrates in the Mill at a skilled level.

    + Complete duties within the Mill process which could include tasks within the following areas: fine crushing plant, COB, ball Mill, roughers, cleaners, flotation cells, moly plant, copper moly thickeners, tailing thickeners, and mill control room

    + Take process readings and makes necessary process changes or adjustments

    + Use electronic process monitoring system to monitor conveyor, plant systems and equipment

    + Perform start-up and shut-down of plant or related systems

    + Operate processing equipment and makes adjustments as needed; performs basic maintenance on processing equipment and reports maintenance issues

    + May operate mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, and overhead cranes

    + Perform area housekeeping duties and may perform work area and safety audits

    + Perform other duties as required

    **What You Bring To Freeport**

    + Six (6) months of experience in Mill process operations

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

    + Knowledge of the wet grind system and flow systems through mill and floatation area

    + Knowledge of the filtering and drying process

    + May be required to complete HAZMAT training as required by Department of Transportation regulations

    + Knowledge of placard system to accurately identify hazardous materials

    + Knowledge of environmental policies and responsible for reporting any issues and/or concerns

    + High School diploma or GED
