Overview

Year Up’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by providing young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and education. We do this through a high support, high expectation model that combines job skills, stipends, internships and college credits. Our holistic approach focuses on students’ professional and personal development to place these young adults on a viable path to economic self-sufficiency.

We connect young adults who need opportunity with companies who need their talent. Through a one-year intensive training program, students are enrolled in GateWay Community College courses where they are able to earn up to 30 college credits in only six months. Following the first six months of Learning & Development, students earn an internship with one of our corporate partners in the Phoenix area including organizations such as Bank of America, American Express, McKesson, & Dignity Health.

Based on our high expectations and high support environment, Year Up students have the opportunity to receive services from a variety of community partners to support them in succeeding in the program. Some of our partners include Arizona@Work Maricopa County, Live & Learn, and YAchievers.

Year Up students need to be committed and determined to change the trajectory of their life. Our program is intensive and requires students commit their full selves to a year of self improvement, professional development, and continuous feedback with the support of Year Up staff and their colleagues.

To apply for the Year Up program, applicants need to complete the following steps: 1) Submit an online Interest Form (link above) 2) Attend an Information Session 3) Complete the online application 4) Attend an interview with our Admissions Team
