HUD Certified Housing Counselor are responsible for provisions of comprehensive individual counseling and coordination / delivery of group education for clients who are experiencing impediments to housing stability. Maintains thorough records and timely documentation for reporting and billing requirements of the organization. Ability to work in a dynamic environment is important for program services and growth. Position may from time to time be stressful and will require a high demand of performance. May be asked to complete other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides intake; counsels and interviews clients with respect to their overall financial situation as it relates to their housing status
Provides one-on-one extensive housing counseling, including sessions for action plans, budget development, analysis of credit report, debt reduction, and / or emergency savings
Creates and ensures completion of a client's paper and electronic case file per organizational and HUD guidelines
Protects organization's value and client's privacy by maintaining client information confidential
Develops and facilitates financial education workshops, including procuring and scheduling speakers
Builds relationships with landlords, realtors, lenders, and other professionals to establish referral sources
Works closely with Program Director to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting requirements
Maintains accurate statistics, records, and data for reporting and billing requirements of funders, including use of a HUD-approved Client Management System (CMS)
May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma/GED
Current HUD Certification as a Housing Counselor
Three years' experience in housing, banking, lending, or related area
Knowledge of housing and economic self-sufficiency issues as well as community resources
Demonstrated skill in organizing time and prioritized workload
Excellent data entry skills (speed and accuracy)
Skilled in use of Microsoft Office Suite
Good decision-making skills with the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and implement solutions
Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person
Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Bilingual, English / Spanish verbal and written
Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of insurance and Arizona Motor Vehicle division 39 months Motor Vehicle Report
TB skin test and drug screening
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

AA in human social services or related field
Additional years' of directly related experience
First Aid and CPR certification
