    Job Overview:
    We are looking for a Warehouse Shift Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations in the warehouse and manage receiving/shipping crews at our Spoke NA1 metals recycling plant located in Mesa, Arizona. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position will supervise the daily and hour by hour activities of the warehouse, coordinating with all departments of the plant (maintenance, production, Safety, HR, as required) to drive the team to achieve targets as laid out in the production and maintenance for the facility.

    The ideal candidate will foster and develop a work environment that promotes trust, teamwork, performance, quality, and safety.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Preproduction activities include:

    • Participate in interviewing and hiring of warehouse operators
    • Assist in writing SOPs
    • Training of operators on SOP’s
    • Instruct and manage warehouse operators in pre-production activities
    • Assist in creation of line-up meeting boards and shift hand-over process
    • Collaborate with logistics to finalize operating consumables storage locations
    • Complete pre-production training
    • May assist in installation of equipment

    Postproduction activities include:

    • Supervise Forklift Operators, Material Handlers and truck drivers to ensure processes both internal and external are being followed in an accurate, efficient and safe manner.
    • Staff management to include Plan and assign schedules and duties to meet workload requirements, evaluate performance and draft performance evaluations, monitor and approve employee work time, train and develop staff, discipline staff per company policy.
    • Ensure that all product entering or exiting the facility meets customer and product requirements.
    • Ensure all safety and housekeeping standards are always met and adhered to.
    • Troubleshoot/problem solve issues that arise during assigned shift and work cross functionally to correct and solve.
    • Review all in-bound shipments, for accuracy.
    • Manage the shipping & Receiving office; handle distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out.
    • Ensure all production orders are shipped in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedules.
    • Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties.
    • Maintain strict control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external audits.
    • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
    • Consider full implications of freight turnover, size, weight, and other factors when allocating warehouse space.
    • Enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.
    • Supervise a team of warehouse employees, including hiring, delegation, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary actions, and termination.
    • Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment.
    • Assess the need for arranging, moving equipment to perform the job safely.
    • Identify discrepancies between inventory records and report immediately.
    • Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters where necessary.
    • Monitor performance metrics for shipping and receiving.
    • Report Safety & Quality problems immediately.
    • Review forklift logs and address issues as appropriate, per OHS Act and applicable regs.
    • Maintain employee work schedules including timecard approval, work assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off.

    Qualifications:

    • 5 years of direct work experience in a warehouse management function, inventory control and supply chain management position.
    • Experience implementing and creating a world class warehouse environment
    • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management.
    • Direct knowledge of WHMIS and other safety systems.
    • Experience with radio frequency ID systems (RFID), bar code systems, and electronic data interchange (EDI) may be required.
    • Strong knowledge of various systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation, with good writing skills.
    • Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions.
    • Solid project management skills are essential.
    • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
    • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills.

    Global Logistics (GL) is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead the cost out initiatives of inbounding non-sort inventory. This strategic role will focus on reducing costs across approximately 50% ($1.35B) of Amazon's Domestic First Mile (DFM) transportation spend through innovative supply chain solutions.

    As a single-threaded leader, you will:

    - Transform our historically under-optimized nonsort network through mode optimization and carrier strategy

    - Drive conversion of eligible Small Parcel shipments to Less Than Truckload

    - Partner with SCOT and FC teams on placement optimization

    - Develop metrics and methods for procurement to secure optimal rates

    - Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve network efficiency

    Key job responsibilities

    - Own end-to-end nonsort network optimization strategy and execution

    - Develop and implement new operational processes for mode conversion

    - Drive data-driven decisions through deep dive analysis and business cases

    - Partner with procurement on carrier strategy and rate optimization

    - Create and track KPIs for measuring success of optimization initiatives

    - Lead weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews and financial planning

    - Manage stakeholder relationships across Transportation, SCOT, and FC teams

    - Document and scale successful optimization patterns

    A day in the life

    You'll start your day analyzing network performance metrics and identifying opportunities for mode optimization. Throughout the day, you'll partner with FC teams to understand operational constraints, work with procurement on rate negotiations, and develop technical solutions with our engineering teams. You'll spend time deep diving into data to validate conversion opportunities, building business cases, and documenting findings in detailed six-pager documents for leadership review.

    About the team

    The Global Logistics Product team for DFM Cost is a newly formed organization focused on optimizing Amazon's $2.7B annual transportation spend. As part of GL's product innovation arm, we drive strategic cost reduction initiatives through advanced analytics, network optimization, and supply chain intelligence. Our team combines supply chain experts, product managers, and business intelligence engineers to tackle complex transportation challenges. Working closely with partner teams, we're responsible for developing and scaling solutions that reduce transportation costs while maintaining service levels across the network.

    Basic Qualifications

    - Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

    - 5+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

    - Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

    - Knowledge of SQL at an intermediate level, including: compile queries, subqueries, aggregation/grouping, data modification, etc.

    - 5+ years of strategic sourcing and procurement operations experience in indirect categories.

    Preferred Qualifications

    - MBA

    - 3+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience

    - 3+ years of profit & loss management experience

    - Specific experience in driving process improvements in procurement

    - Technical aptitude and familiarity with complex procurement systems

    - Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
