Amazon's vision for the future is one where Fulfillment Centers operate as a local store with up to 60% of flows for each DS will come from a single upstream FC. We envision Amazon’s Outbound Supply chain to be the benchmark for Performance, Speed and Cost, and do not believe in prioritizing one service over the other. The ideal network design is one that lowers cost-to-serve and, in the process, does so with a positive impact on delivery speed and reliability.

The Network Optimization & Regional Design (NORD) Team's mission is to create the roadmap to enable this vision and drive cross-functional initiatives to make rapid progress towards it. The team will work across the breadth of the Supply Chain to identify opportunities to improve placement, make better fulfillment decisions and guide the development of the right infrastructure and network design to bring it all together.
