Summary THIS IS AN ARIZONA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA). This position is part of the AZ 161st Air Refueling Wing, Arizona National Guard under Position Description Number PDT5526000. Responsibilities Its primary purpose is to function as Chief of Fire Protection in support of flying activities and provide first run structural response for the ANG flying base. May support airport, city or county activities on the airfield, through agreements with the municipal airport, but the airport authority has overall charge in emergency situations. Utilizes up to 14 subordinates in providing 24 hour a day coverage. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized Experience: Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade. Have experience in detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; experience in operation of fire communications equipment; experience in recognizing hazardous materials incidents; and, developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. Must be certified by the DOD Fire Fighter Certification system as Fire Officer IV (includes Fire Officer I, II, III), Fire Instructor II (includes Fire Instructor I), Fire Inspector II (includes Fire Inspector I), HAZMAT Incident Commander (includes Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations), and Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II). Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. + Performs a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
+ Operates testing equipment and conducts testing, (example: Soil, concrete, or other) and provides an assessment of data through reporting
+ Works utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams
+ Uses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks

What it takes to be successful in this role:

+ Must have Basic Math, Calculator, and Computer Skills
+ Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
+ Must be able to read plans and specifications
+ Must be able to work off shifts and overtime
+ Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
