**Summary**

Transmission/Generation Operations Power Dispatchers have the full authority and responsibility to operate SRP’s power delivery system and Balancing Authority Area safely, reliably and in full compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). PDO Dispatchers operate the Power Delivery System, while AGC Dispatchers operate the Balancing Authority Area. AGC Dispatchers are also responsible for the duties required for SRP to participate in organized energy markets.

Additional responsibilities for both Dispatcher positions include an extensive knowledge of interconnected power system operations, competency with highly technical computer-based tools, and effective interaction with other utilities, SRP Power Delivery construction and maintenance personnel (PDO), SRP generating stations and SRP energy trading groups (AGC).

TGO Dispatcher Apprentices are trained in all relevant areas of Transmission/Generation Operations to become proficient in both Dispatcher Roles.

Any one position may not include all duties nor do the example of duties include all tasks, which may be found in the position of this class.

**What You'll Do**

**PDO:**

Has full responsibility and authority as a Transmission Operator to take the actions necessary to ensure safe and reliable operation in compliance with NERC Reliability Standards.

Directs power delivery system operations in accordance with established NERC Reliability Standards and SRP operating procedures.

Directs switching of facilities, issues clearances, and issues hold tags to field personnel in compliance with SRP procedures and safety practices.

Coordinates real time maintenance outages on transmission, sub transmission, system communication equipment, protective relay systems and system control equipment.

Directs restoration of the power delivery system after system disturbances.

Notifies proper personnel in case of damage of SRP facilities and accidents within SRP.

Responsible for proper handling of industrial customer inquiries.

Coordinates real-time maintenance outages on power delivery system facilities.

**AGC:**

Has full responsibility and authority to take the actions necessary to ensure safe and reliable Balancing Authority operation in compliance with NERC Reliability Standards.

Directs Balancing Authority Area operations in accordance with established NERC Reliability Standards and SRP operating procedures.

Performs all energy market-related tasks associated with the Balancing Authority Area.

Creates and modifies the current day power generation unit commitment plan and directs generating plant personnel as needed to implement the plan.

Coordinates real-time maintenance outages on generation facilities.

Creates operating logs, load forecasts, and ensures real-time data is accurate.

**Both:**

Represents SRP with other NERC Functional Entities involving real-time operating issues.

Performs outage coordination functions.

Develops, reviews, and approves Operating Practices.

Serves as a Project Manager for special ark and collaboration.

**What It Takes To Succeed**

Apprentices will complete the above tasks and duties under the direct supervision of Grid Operations management and/or Qualified Journeyworker.

Educational prerequisites as required by the Transmission / Generation Operations (TGO) Apprenticeship Committee

Apprentices will be required to pass the NERC Certification test prior to completion of program (typically within 3rd Step) and must be maintained on an ongoing basis. This certification is a requirement for SRP to be compliant with NERC reliability standards.

NOTE: Apprentices who fail to become NERC Certified may result in disciplinary action up to and including

termination.

**Other Significant Requirements:**

Perform duties on rotating shift or day shift. May rotate between these work schedules.

**Experience**

Knowledge of the power delivery system, including equipment, major facilities, and electrical characteristics.

Knowledge of substation control, circuit breaker controls, relay systems, alarm systems and communication systems.

Knowledge of many complex specialized computer applications associated with the job function.

Ability to multi-task and perform duties methodically despite frequent interruptions by telephones and/or co-workers.

Ability to quickly analyze and take corrective action for system disturbances.

**Hybrid Workplace**

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.

As the critical first point of contact in emergency situations, you will help protect lives, property, and operations by ensuring rapid, coordinated responses across multiple teams.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

+ Answer and document emergency calls while dispatching fire and security units via multiple radio channels.

+ Provide pre-arrival instructions based on established emergency response protocols.

+ Monitor and manage radio traffic and incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.

+ Ensure accurate documentation and timely notifications to key personnel.

+ Collaborate within a team environment in a fast-paced operations center.

+ Support the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

+ Complete Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) training (provided) and maintain certification.

**What You’ll Need to Bring**

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ High school diploma or GED required; vocational or associate degree preferred

+ Minimum 1 year of experience in a multitasking, team-based environment

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

+ Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience

+ Experience as a dispatcher in public safety or private-sector security/fire protection

+ Proven ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations

+ Familiarity with CAD systems and multi-channel radio communication

+ Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills

+ Receptiveness to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement

**Shift & Training Details**

+ **Training Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Training Week)

+ **Post-Training Shift:** Assigned based on availability

+ 1st Shift: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM

+ 2nd Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM

+ 3rd Shift: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM

_Please note: This is a rotating shift role. Final shift assignment will be determined post-training._

Job Overview:

The Service Dispatcher coordinates pool equipment service requests through the use of scheduling software. Responsible for maintaining superior customer service levels in assigned districts. Will interact with Service Managers, Service Technicians, Customer Service Representatives Commercial Account Executives, and stores on service appointments and ensure superior customer service. Will interface with customers and service technicians to analyze problem types and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize cost. Advise necessary personnel of schedule changes and communicate timely with customers. Will work with CSRs to resolve questions and provide solutions and guidance.

Responsibilities:

+ Monitor technician schedules to ensure timely arrival to customer appointments and notify customers if a technician is running behind.

+ Ensure all same-day and next-day calls are routed, locked, and dispatched appropriately.

+ Address and reschedule any calls dropped by the optimizer, ensuring no unscheduled calls are left.

+ Respond promptly to all emails, text messages, and Slack messages; text messages immediately, emails within an hour, and ensure no communications are left unanswered by the end of the day.

+ Follow up on "on hold for parts" calls from the previous day to maintain service continuity.

+ Track and coordinate part orders for warranty repairs, ensuring proper scheduling and follow-up.

+ Maintain superior customer service levels within assigned districts.

+ Coordinate and monitor service requests and appointments using web-based scheduling software.

+ Collaborate with Service Managers, Technicians, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), and Customer Account Executives (CAEs) to resolve scheduling and customer issues.

+ Optimize scheduling to improve efficiency and minimize operational costs.

+ Communicate any potential service delays to customers and field teams, ensuring all customer commitments are met.

+ Receive and respond to all customer service requests in a timely manner.

+ Handle inbound calls for service requests and make outbound calls for pool closing season.

Qualifications:

+ Ability to multitask

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional phone etiquette.

+ Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer proficiency with above average keyboarding skills.

+ Consistently positive, professional interaction with contacts at all levels.

+ Previous scheduling/dispatching experience.

+ 2 years of retail or call center customer service experience.

+ History of good attendance and work habits

+ Ability to learn the ‘technical’ aspect of the swimming pool industry.
