    Under the general direction of the Project Foreman, the incumbents will perform physical labor on assigned project / construction sites. The incumbent must be an experienced, self-motivated, capable journeyman electrician, motivated to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision. The incumbent will perform activities such as excavating, raceway installations, grounding, terminating, instrumentation installation, switchgear installation, startup and testing, and train the upcoming apprentices.     Primary Job Duties include but may not be limited to:

    + Responsible to demonstrate competency and pass RE electrical exam.

    + May be required to safely drive a company vehicle to /or from a job site; on a job site, obeying all local, state and federal traffic laws.

    Grand Canyon University is currently seeking a fulltime Electrician. The Electrician is responsible for the installation and repair of electrical systems and components in existing GCU owned buildings.

    Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 11am-8pm

    What you will do:

    + Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.

    + Install, maintain, modify, and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.

    + Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code

    + Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switches gears.

    + Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.

    + Able to identify issues and take corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.

    + Obtains price quotations on materials needed; submits purchasing orders for approval.

    + Effectively handles electrical installation/repair work orders and completes on schedule.

    + Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

    + Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

    + Utilizes work order system to record detailed handling of scheduled assignment including hours needed to complete assignment.

    What you need:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    + Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as an electrician, minimum experience in working with commercial electrical systems at least 2 years.

    + Hold licensure/certification as a journeyman electrician preferred.

    + Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    + Must be available to work on call shifts as assigned.

    + Must successfully pass a background check.

    + Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role which require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and carrying of electrical components and other materials required for repair or installation.

    **Where You Will Work**

    Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

    **What You Will Do**

    + Removal, repair and installation of electrical components, electrical systems, analysis and diagnosis, advanced troubleshooting and systems/process optimization; may mentor or train other electrical workers

    + Safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction

    + Perform preventative maintenance including installation, repair and troubleshooting of industrical electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment)

    + Must have strong knowledge in the maintenance and troubleshooting of AC/DC drives, PLCs, overhead cranes, management control systems, calibration of field transmitters/transducers and weigh scales, and low and medium voltage equipment

    + Ability to perform installations and renovations compliant with regulatory agency standards

    + Follow Standard Operating Procedues (SOP) and work area instructions, participate in safety and environmental activities, and use plant and equipment correctly at all times

    **What You Bring To Freeport**

    + Completion of an approved Certified Electronics, Electrical and/or Instrumentation Program, **OR**

    + Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance, **OR**

    + Associate's degree or Trade School Certification in a related field **and ** two (2) years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance

    + Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of electrical circuits and connected equipment; this includes the ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints, and schematics for trouble shooting and repair

    + Effective written and verbal communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company

    + Must have minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire date

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

    **Preferred Qualifications**

    + High School diploma or GED

    + Experience with VFDs, PLC, HMI, and/or SCADA Control Systems

    + Experience working with low and medium voltages

    + Experience with AC and/or DC controls

    + Experience with instrumentation devices

    + Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment

    + Experience with HVAC equipment

    **What We Offer You**

    The estimated pay range for this role is currently **$31.00 - $42.50/hour.** This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
