    Grand Canyon University is seeking a full time Electrician. This position is responsible for installations and repairs of electrical systems across the university.

    The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday from 11:00AM to 8:00PM.

    Responsibilities:

    + Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.

    + Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment

    + Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code

    + Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears

    + Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices

    + Able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.

    + Obtains price quotations on materials needed; submits purchasing orders for approval.

    + Effectively handles electrical installation/repair work orders and completes on schedule.

    + Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

    + Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

    + Utilizes work order system to record detailed handling of scheduled assignment including hours needed to complete assignment.

    Required Qualifications:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required.

This includes:--Power, distribution, grounding, phase shifting, and instrument transformers; oil, air, vacuum and gas circuit breakers; reclosers; circuit switchers; step voltage regulators; reactor and capacitor banks, motor and manually operated disconnecting switches; air compressors; uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment, alternate power systems, stand-by generators, transfer switches; batteries and battery chargers; motors; contactors and motor control switchgear; relays, indicating and recording instruments, condition monitoring devices, control switches, and related equipment; lighting and miscellaneous power distribution equipment; wire and cable raceway systems, and station groundings, substation station service systems, station grounding systems, AC. and DC. distribution and control system wiring, terminate, splice, direct bury high voltage cable up to 34.5 kV. Install and wire equipment on switchboards, control panels, relay panels, and in all types of electrical enclosures. Work from schematic and wiring diagrams, control board physical layouts, manufacturer's instructions, oral and written instructions. Mark up wiring diagrams and schematics when field changes are made.     Grand Canyon University is seeking a full time Electrician. This position is responsible for installations and repairs of electrical systems across the university.

    The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday from 11:00AM to 8:00PM.

    Responsibilities:

    + Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.

    + Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment

    + Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code

    + Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears

    + Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices

    + Able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.

    + Obtains price quotations on materials needed; submits purchasing orders for approval.

    + Effectively handles electrical installation/repair work orders and completes on schedule.

    + Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

    + Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

    + Utilizes work order system to record detailed handling of scheduled assignment including hours needed to complete assignment.

    + Part of a rotating list of on-call personnel.

    Required Qualifications:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    + Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an electrician, minimum experience in working with commercial electrical systems at least 2 years.

    + Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    + Must be available to work on call shifts as assigned.

    + Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role which require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and carrying of electrical components and other materials required for repair or installation.

    Reporting to the Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education at the Chino Valley Campus, the incumbent will be responsible for continued development and instruction of a Lineworker Technician Program. The Electric Utility Linework Instructor will be responsible for curriculum development, field training, such as pole climbing, equipment operation, overhead and underground line construction, hot line work, safety, and instruction of all other subjects in the program. Conforms to policies and procedures for safe work practices, area protection, proper use of vehicles, tools, and equipment associated with accepted lineman work practices. Additional responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction in assigned classes according to course syllabi; participation in the college community and continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and in collaboration with other faculty. May be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which she/he is able to be credentialed.

    Besides traditional class structuring, the College is also attempting to meet the varying needs of our students by offering weekend, year-round, and compressed courses of instruction and services. Since service to our students is our highest priority, instructors can expect to participate in innovative methods and assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of interactive, online, day, evening and/or weekend classes.

    The general expectation is that full-time faculty serve as probationary faculty for a period of three years prior to being reviewed for continuing status. The determination of faculty status is, however, ultimately at the discretion of the Yavapai College District Governing Board and the College President, as the Board's designee.

    Summary

    This role is responsible for ensuring the proper electrical functioning of plant equipment and machinery and to troubleshoot any electrical/electronic malfunctioning and complete appropriate repairs and maintenance. Pay is up to $40/hour based on experience.
