This individual will be a self-starter, eager to jump in when needed, and be dedicated in their support of TURBOCAM Arizona’s future. The Machine Operator sets up, utilizes, and operates assigned lathe, mill, and/or balance CNC machines and supports machine procedures for the prototyping and production of machined parts.

    Position Specific Responsibilities
    - Perform set-up and operation of assigned lathe, mill and/or balance machine/s.
    - Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on the lathe, mill and/or balance machines as needed and required.
    - Report all deviations in proper machine performance to direct supervisor, other shop supervisor, and/or Machine Maintenance personnel (when warranted).
    - Advise and consult with direct supervisor, and/or shop supervisor as applicable, for tools and tooling needed to complete turning projects.
    - Maintain fixtures and set-ups for use in specified projects as assigned when applicable.
    - Support and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe.

    + Make simple setups and perform repetitive machine operations (including reworking parts) such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, reaming and smoothing parts. Make minor adjustments and report improper machine functioning or cutting action for correction.

    + Align and fasten parts using standard fixtures where established methods are followed.

    + Set feeds, speeds and depth of cut to machine quality parts.

    + Perform operations such as reaming, tapping, spot-facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring.

    + Visually inspect parts for burrs and damaged machine surfaces.

    + Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks cracks or other irregularities from machined parts.

    + Inspect parts for conformance to specifications by visual examination and the use of gages or other measuring instruments.

    + Accurately and regularly perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements.

    + Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.

    + Perform other related responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    + HS diploma or equivalent.

    + 0-3 years general or related machine shop experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.

    + Must demonstrate manual dexterity.

    + Must be able to read and understand blueprints.

    + Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.

    + Must demonstrate effective English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

    + Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Be able to read blueprints • Be able to setup and operate CNC lathes or mills with existing programs and tooling information. • Be able to make edit changes as required on existing programs. • Be able to make offset changes on CNC equipment. • Have basic knowledge of inspection equipment/tools. • Have basic math and trigonometry skills. • Be able to deburr parts as needed. • Be able to work with little or no supervision. • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment. • Be able to cross train as needed. • Required to complete all quality production documents; includes but not limited to First Article Inspection (FAI), Day by Hour Reports, and others as required. • Required to perform any other duties as assigned Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience in related area.
