Overview
The Tucson Police Department, established in 1871, proudly serves a diverse community of over 520,000 residents across 200+ square miles. With more than 830 sworn officers and 290 professional staff, we operate under a four-bureau system led by the Chief of Police. Our mission is to protect life and property, prevent crime, and partner with the community to solve problems. Guided by our Seven Core Values—Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Leadership, Personal Responsibility, Service Orientation, and Teamwork—we strive to make Tucson a safer place for all. In addition to our four patrol divisions, TPD includes specialized units such as Training, Human Resources, Violent Crimes, Special Victims, Air Support, and more.
