Job Description - Vegetation Maintenance Planner
Position Description

The primary duty of Vegetation Maintenance Planners is to analyze, plan, and coordinate maintenance activities using a work management process. The classification identifies vegetation hazards to high voltage electrical systems and facilitates mitigation of these hazards. This position works closely with individual landowners, internal and external stake holders for hazard resolution.

Position-Related Responsibilities
· Develop vegetation maintenance strategies, generates job packages, to include prioritization of work through a critical path schedule and a detailed work plan.

· Coordinate and schedules maintenance activities with TEP’s Operations & Maintenance Groups, Land Resources Group, and Jurisdictional agencies and Landowners.

· Review and initiates corrective and preventative work orders originating from TEP’s Design Group and Operations priority trouble orders.

· Utilizing a critical path technique to develop schedules, labor requirements cost estimates, and duration of planned outages.

· Manage day to day activities of the vegetation maintenance contractor.

· Assign work to contract crews through the Maximo work management system and monitor’s progress.

· Proactively investigates work order requests, meets with customers to address concerns and mitigate conflicts prior to work being performed.

· Address all customer complaints.

· Perform field audits, to ensure safe work practices are followed and work is performed in an efficient manner.

· Track daily project status and documents for key performance indicators.

· Perform system administrator tasks for computerized maintenance management system.

· Validate accuracy of contractor timesheets and invoices.

· Adhere to company procurement policies and procedures.

· Establish and administer the Vegetation Management business unit budget.

· Maintenance Planner must be available for after hour call out for vegetation caused outages.

· This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years applicable experience in Maintenance Planning for high voltage electric, transmission and or distribution systems or an advanced degree in an applicable field.
Must have an Arborist Certification. In addition, this position requires an Arborist Utility Specialist Certification issued by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). The candidate for this position shall obtain the Arborist Utility Specialist Certification within the first three months of their employment.
Minimal overnight travel required
Ability to work in an outdoor environment under a variety of conditions.
Aptitude to accurately diagnose vegetation maintenance problems, determine clearing methods, plan, and schedule vegetation maintenance activities.
Must be knowledgeable in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Pay Rate: Salary determined based on candidate's experience & qualifications.
