At Nammo Defense Systems, we take seriously our core values of Precision, Dedication and Care. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team.

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer is the technical point of contact for the manufacturing of energetic devices at the Mesa, Arizona facility. The Engineer will act as the liaison between Program Management, Supply Chain, Planning, and Product Engineering ensuring continued product success. The position will provide technical engineering support for new and continuing production. The manufacturing engineer will be the technical owner of the process including work instructions, equipment, tooling, and other facility requirements. Engineering position will focus on tooling design, participate in automation projects, and support production operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for tooling design and documentation. Must have the experience with 3D CAD and 2D drafting.

• Provides hands-on support for manufacturing assembly of company products.

• Provide training to operations team.

• Evaluate existing equipment and / or systems for methods to improve performance, efficiency, reliability and propose recommendations.

• Technical writing.

• Strong understanding and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and process hazard analysis (PHA).

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with critical assembly operations.

• Author process plans, standard manufacturing processes, test plans, and test reports.

• Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process

• Maintain equipment and tooling through coordination with maintenance team.

• Identify and champion IR&D and continuous improvement projects

• Coordinate and perform all necessary validation and / or process engineering evaluations as needed for manufacturing equipment.

Required Experience & Skills:

• BS/MS in Engineering discipline or Physics.

• 2+ years industry-relevant experience preferred, though others will be considered.

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing.

• 3D solid modeling experience. Minimum 3 years.

• Experience designing, installing, and qualifying production equipment including hand tools, fixture, and semi-automated equipment.

• Proficiency at authoring technical documents such as test plans, test reports, manufacturing procedures, and project reports.

• Hands on experience with machining (lathe and mill) preferred but not required.

• Familiar with typical metal working tolerances produced by milling, grinding, turning, and laser/water jet cutting.

• Capable of performing assembly stack up analysis.

• Knowledge and experience with selection of materials commonly used in tools, gages, and assembly fixtures.

• Basic understanding of pneumatics, controls, sensors, and PLC’s.

• Capable of performing basic stress analysis using hand calculations and/or FEA software.

• Ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
