**Job Summary:** RSIis seeking a self-starting, motivated **Entry Level** **Environmental Data Scientist** to provide data management support on environmental investigations and remediation projects as part of the chemistry team. The Data Scientist supports upfront field planning, coordination and preparation of documents required to acquire analytical services to address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. This office and field position requires some knowledge in the areas of science, data input and some chemistry obtained through specialized intellectual instruction. The position requires the ability to work independently on assignments requiring the consistent exercise of judgement, attention to detail, ability to interpret or make deductions based on environmental methods and analytical procedures. The position is an in-office position but can be remote depending on location.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Generate and format tables, charts and graphs in support of assessing site conditions and report preparation.

+ Generate Chain of Custody records (COCs) and bottle orders to the lab for field sampling programs.

+ Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner.

+ Manage delays in delivering samples to laboratory.

+ Attend and participate in project meetings.

+ Learn and perform functions in GES’s environmental data management system, including error checking, writing and/or executing basic SQL queries.

**Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:**

+ BS or BA in any of the physical sciences or computer science. Preference includes semester hours in chemistry, mathematics, and physics.

+ Zero to 2 years of progressively responsible experience conducting field sampling, laboratory analyses, data verification, data management, and team support/integration.

+ HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification with current 8 Hour Refresher.

+ Continuing education in environmental science/data management is expected.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**

+ Familiar with Federal EPA, DoD, DOE environmental data quality regulations and guidelines

+ Familiar with environmental industry standard analytical methodologies for determining the presence of chemicals and radionuclides.

+ Able to apply knowledge to multiple projects at same time.

+ Understands appropriate protocols for the collection of samples and other field data.

+ Understands industry standard principles, terms, procedures and practices of radiological, inorganic and organic chemistry.

+ Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

+ Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Able to use logical thought processes to analyze information and make recommendations about continuous improvement.

+ Able to meet deadlines.

+ Able to work without supervision and take directions without follow-up.

+ Possess strong quantitative and interpersonal skills.

+ Competent in using word processing, spreadsheet programs, and portable document format (PDF) programs (Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam).
