**This position will work closely with** the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.

**This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.**

**Job Responsibilities:**

+ Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of the environmental health and safety aspects of clean energy technologies and projects.

+ Able to evaluate the environmental health and safety aspects of project

+ Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to environmental health and safety aspects of project.

+ Identify project risks and risks mitigants of environmental health and safety of projects.

+ Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary).

+ Work in teams and independently to provide engineering expertise on environmental health and safety aspects of projects.

+ Draft independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated systems.

+ Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise).

+ Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication – communicating succinctly and clearly.

+ Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, technology providers, regulatory agencies).

**Qualifications:**

+ **This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.**

+ Bachelor’s Degree (arts or science) in a field supporting environmental, health, and safety education is required.

+ Background in industrial EH&S systems.

+ Experience providing independent engineering, technical advisory, or due diligence.

+ Minimum of 10 years’ experience practicing in this field, preferably trained in current EH&S topics.

+ Current certification in EH&S is preferred.

+ Comprehensive understanding of industry-accepted Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) guidelines is a plus.

+ Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
