As a Principal Certification Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the compliance and certification of aerospace products and systems. You will lead the certification process, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet all regulatory requirements and industry standards. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the safety and reliability of our aerospace solutions.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on our Aerospace business unit by leading the certification process and ensuring the successful compliance of our products. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and regulatory authorities to navigate the complex certification process and ensure that our products meet all necessary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
+ Support certification matters by interfacing with the COEs, ISC, ODA, HI Leadership, OEMs and Certification Authorities.
+ Provide certification guidance to product groups for regulatory compliance in the system and software development areas.
+ Perform and/or support system, safety, and software audits for regulatory compliance, special conditions and/or contractual obligations.
+ Support the deployment of new applicable airworthiness regulations/standards and resolution of systemic certification findings and issues into Honeywell certification process.
+ Support efforts in building and maintaining Honeywell's strong relationships with the national and international
+ Certification Authorities, and support industry working groups and regulatory committees.
+ Support Product Assurance Airworthiness & Certification (PAAC) Management Operating System Initiatives.
Ability to travel <10% of the time.

YOU MUST HAVE
+ Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerospace certification
+ Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
+ Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
WE VALUE
+ Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
+ Experience with certification of avionics systems
+ Familiar with FAA regulations; in particular FAA TSO Order 8150.1, 14 CFR 21 subpart O, and industry guidance standards such as DO-178B/C, ARP-4754, & DO-326.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Prior certification liaison experience and direct working relationship with the Certification Authorities (FAA, EASA, etc.).
+ Experience with aircraft systems operation and have broad knowledge of avionics products.
+ Able to work with Product Engineers, Program Managers, Customers, Peers, and Certification Authorities striving to build positive working relationships.
