Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team on the Modeling and Simulation Software (MSS) Infrastructure Project team on the Specialized Warfighter and Development Contract (SWDC) program as an IT Systems Design Engineer 3 based out of Schriever SFB, CO. This position is on-site and does not have remote option. No relocation is available.

The IT Systems Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IT systems that align with the organization's strategic goals. This role requires a strong understanding of Systems IT architecture, technical specifications, and business requirements, with a focus on disconnected enclaves, DOD-specific frameworks, and virtualization technologies.

Responsibilities include:

+ Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for systems.

+ Design and develop system architectures, including hardware, software, and network components.

+ Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, such as design documents, system specifications, and user manuals, including DODAF drawings and documentation.

+ Oversee the implementation of IT systems, ensuring they meet specified requirements and integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure.

+ Conduct testing and quality assurance to identify and resolve defects in compliance with industry standards.

+ Provide ongoing maintenance and support for implemented systems, including troubleshooting issues and making necessary updates.

+ Design and implement virtualized environments using VMware and other virtualization technologies to optimize system performance and resource utilization.

+ Collaborate with other teams, such as IT Administration, Cyber Security, Networking, and operations, to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects.

+ Stay updated on the latest technology trends and best practices relevant to DOD systems to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

+ Apply knowledge of the Systems Design Engineering lifecycle throughout all phases of projects.

+ Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree with 3-5 years of experience in IT systems design or a related field

+ Must have CompTIA Security+ with Continuing Education (CE) or equivalent certification under DoD 8570.01-M

+ Experience with VMware vSphere and related virtualization technologies

+ Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).

+ Knowledge of network technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, routing, switching) in disconnected environments.

+ Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux).

+ Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).

+ Active Secret Security Clearance

+ Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience with design and modeling tools (e.g., UML, Visio).

+ Project management and collaboration tool experience.

+ Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.

+ Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

+ Experience with other virtualization platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, KVM) in addition to VMware.

+ Understanding of virtualization concepts and best practices in enterprise environments.

+ Experience in designing, implementing, and managing virtual infrastructures.

+ Proficiency in creating and interpreting DODAF drawings and documentation.

+ Strong understanding of the Systems Design Engineering lifecycle.

+ Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to DOD (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs).

+ Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., ACAS, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)

+ Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization concepts.

**Salary Range:** $88,600 - $133,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
