Position Summary: Content Specialists provide subject matter knowledge and insights contributing to the development of a high-quality standards-aligned curriculum. Informed by Instructional Resource documents including the Scope & Sequence and Task Analysis, Content Specialists review unit flow and pace, verify the accuracy and currency of material, and inform the level of content detail included in a lesson. Working closely with Staff Writers, Content Specialists contribute content, answer questions, provide feedback, and assist in the development and evaluation of lessons.

Work collaboratively with Curriculum Writers in the development of curriculum units that align to the Arizona CTE Technical and Professional Standards
Assist Curriculum Writers with pre-planning and clarifying lesson content prior to creation.
Inform and evaluate lesson development throughout the process to ensure content accuracy.
Evaluate and endorse all lessons for content alignment and accuracy upon completion, prior to editing.
Communicate regularly with Curriculum Writers to support the timeline for lesson/unit development.
Training and Evaluation: Content Specialists are required to successfully complete a Curriculum Design Training course (~ 4 hours). Content Specialists, once approved and hired, complete an initial onboarding meeting with the Director, Assistant Director, and Staff Writer discussing the curriculum development process. At this point a draft schedule for the program curriculum development will be shared, communication preferences discussed, and a schedule for support established.
Expectations Content Specialists are an integral part of the lesson writing and curriculum development process. As such, regular, consistent, and timely support of Staff Writers or Teacher Curriculum Writers and completion of the lesson planning and review is critical. Content Specialists are expected to meet regularly with Staff Writers or Teacher Curriculum Writers to ensure timely progress of curriculum development.
Qualifications:
AZ CTE Teaching Certificate in the content area identified for curriculum development
Two years of experience as a CTE teacher
Participation in an AZCTECC event (Blueprint & Framework, Scope & Sequence, etc.) preferred
Local CTE Director/CTE Administrator Letter of Recommendation
