Human Resources Assistant Director

The Human Resources Division, operating under the City Manager’s office, is looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team and drive key HR initiatives. This newly created leadership role will play a crucial part in shaping HR strategies, overseeing essential functions such as talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, performance management, and compliance, and collaborating with leadership to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving abilities, extensive knowledge of HR best practices, and a commitment to supporting both employees and organizational objectives. Additionally, this position will oversee several key city-wide initiatives and assist the Human Resources Director with daily operations, potentially including labor relations and other assigned areas within the division.

Minimum qualifications
•A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field; and
•8 years of experience in all aspects of human resources functions with demonstrated experience in complex employee and labor relations areas preferably in a municipal setting; four (4) years of supervisory experience; and
•A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
•Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
•Experience in a municipal environment preferred

This is a regular full-time position, is unclassified and will serve at the pleasure of the City Manager. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
