Chemical Process Engineer I

As a Chemical Process Engineer I here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the day to day chemical processes to support our Energy & Sustainability Solutions (ESS) business. You will utilize your engineering skills to support plant operations and to improve plant efficiency to meet plant goals. You will be working with designated operations staff, including plant supervisors and production operators.

You will report directly to our Operations Technical Manager and you'll work out of our Metropolis, IL location on an onsite work schedule.

In October, 2024 Honeywell announced the spin-off of our Advanced Materials business to become a stand-alone publicly traded company, independent of Honeywell. Our intention is that this role, dedicated to the Advanced Materials business, will be a part of this future transaction when the separation occurs.

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000-$91,500. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Key Responsibilities

+ Support PreFEED and FEED development for projects including process scope and design solutions for growth, cost savings, and HSE projects

+ Develop process models, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout, basic control schemes, and equipment specifications

+ Identify and mitigate technical and process safety risks during design

+ Provide onsite technical support during project construction, commissioning, startup, and product trials

+ Identify and evaluate process alternatives during design and justify process improvements with economic evaluations

+ Develop expertise with process chemistry and unit operations to enable scaleup of laboratory and pilot data to commercial design

+ Work with manufacturing sites to develop and implement productivity projects

+ Demonstrate knowledge of engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes

**YOU MUST HAVE**

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or any other engineering field

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Internship and/or Co-op experience in engineering or relatable field
