Job Summary:
An industrial electrician installs, maintains and repairs industrial electrical and mechanical equipment. This equipment may include fixtures, wiring, pumps, heavy-duty machinery and electrical systems. These professionals most commonly work in commercial or industrial buildings but can also work in other settings. Industrial electricians frequently work in the maintenance and construction industries.
Duties and responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance
Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget
Renovate and build electrical systems as needed
Install and program logic controllers for automated equipment
Programming logic controllers for automation
Oversee the maintenance of power supply and distribution (high and low voltage systems, distribution systems, and ancillary equipment within the department's jurisdiction
Adhere to all JA Solar and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
Meet or exceed company safety standards
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledgeable in pertinent electrical codes and regulations
Able to understand schematics and other technical documents
Must be able to handle physically-demanding tasks
Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician or similar role - In-depth knowledge of electrical systems and components
Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Strong troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with low voltage systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Working conditions:
Able to work extended hours as needed
Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, and extreme noise
Must wear protective equipment while at the location
Familiarity with hand tools and specialized equipment
May be required to work after hours and on weekends or holidays
Physical requirements:
Requires prolonged standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
Heavy Work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around equipment
Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
