Northrop Grumman Marine systems is seeking a Analytical Services / Materials Engineer Level 2 / 3, to support laboratory and analytical services across all Marine Systems programs. This role will require an onsite presence in Sunnyvale, CA.

This position is for a dynamic role within Northrop Grumman’s Marine Systems Materials Engineering and Test Laboratory (METL) department. This is a fast-paced environment where the team provides materials engineering expertise and laboratory services to our Sunnyvale production environment, design engineering, partner suppliers, and Navy & Shipyard customers. This position will support all Naval propulsion, power generation, and launcher programs active at the site.

An individual in this role will be expected to have a working to advanced knowledge of sample preparation techniques for metallography of ferrous alloys, wet chemistry/etching techniques, light-optical, microscopy, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy, and the use of various analytical instruments commonly found in materials laboratory settings. These may include various hardness testers, XRF, carbon/sulfur analyzers, borescopes, and load frames. Skills with non-metallics laboratory processes, such as FTIR, thermal analysis, rheology, KF titration, and paints and coatings tests are a plus. Familiarity with common commercial testing standards are expected.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:

**Basic Qualifications for Level 2:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2 years of experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 1 year of experience.

+ Advanced knowledge of sample preparation techniques for metallography.

+ Experience using various analytical instruments commonly found in materials laboratory settings.

+ Advanced knowledge of common commercial testing standards are required.

+ US Citizenship required.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a secret-level clearance.

**Basic Qualifications for Level 3:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 2 years of experience.

+ Advanced knowledge of sample preparation techniques for metallography.

+ Experience using various analytical instruments commonly found in materials laboratory settings.

+ Advanced knowledge of common commercial testing standards are required.

+ US Citizenship required.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a secret-level clearance.

Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Salary Range 2: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
